Professional Pathways Forum

The Student Members of the American Chemical Society, led by seniors Lindsay Truesdale and Rachael Kurlander, hosted the Professional Pathways Forum on October 4 in the Music Room. A panel of local professionals entertained questions from students about their training, jobs, and their paths to their own success. The panelists included the Hillsborough County Chief Medical Examiner, a Metrohm product specialist, a sixth grade Pinellas County teacher, a UT professor and a USF professor. Career Services Student Ambassador, Zachary Walker, was there to provide advice on utilizing resources that are available to students on campus. It was a terrific social setting where all guests had a chance to relax, enjoy each other's company, and learn something new!

UT Scholarship for Chemistry Olympians

Onyx Davis, a recent graduate from Riverview High School, is the proud recipient of 2013 UT Chemistry Olympiad Scholarship.  This two year scholarship, valued at $1500 per year, was established in 2011 as a way of rewarding potential University of Tampa (UT) students who participated in the US National Chemistry Olympiad competition.  It is made available to a qualified high school senior who intends to pursue a life science major at UT.

Onyx is the second recipient of this scholarship and she is currently pursuing major in biology with a pre-professional concentration.  Her career goal is to become a pediatrician as she has a passion about helping sick children get well and she also wants to discover new drugs that are capable of treating terminal diseases.  She is confident that her studies at UT will aid in making her goals a reality.
